Children’s Friend and Family Services (Children’s Friend) has trained over 40 clinicians at its sites in Salem, Lynn, Lawrence and Gloucester on The Triple P – Positive Parenting Program, one of the most effective evidence-based parenting programs in the world, backed up by more than 30 years of ongoing research. Triple P gives parents simple and practical strategies to help them confidently manage their children’s behavior, prevent problems developing and build strong, healthy relationships.
“The evidence-based Positive Parenting Program, Triple P, is a wonderful way for parents to learn positive strategies to decrease stress and deal with behavioral issues,” says Christin Brown, Salem Site Director and Project Coordinator, Early Childhood Mental Health Initiative at Children’s Friend. “Our clinicians are achieving high success with Triple P helping to create harmony at home which translates into a more positive experience for children in the classroom and community.”
Children’s Friend and Family Services Assistant Executive Director Stephanie Sladen and Christin Brown, Salem Site Director and Project Coordinator, Early Childhood Mental Health Initiative at Children’s Friend presented a breakout session on Tripe P at the recent Youth at Risk Conference. “The conference was filled to capacity and the group was engaged in learning about Triple P. I am happy to speak to providers or parent groups about Triple P strategies and do an introductory workshop with some of the strategies,” says Brown.
“Also as part of the Early Childhood Mental Health Initiative, Children’s Friend is planning on having a training for a group level Triple P training in the Fall so we can offer Triple P in groups. “I am available to meet with community groups and/or parents to hear what they have experienced to be barriers to obtaining mental health treatment for children under 5 if anyone is interested in sharing their experiences with this,” says Brown.
