Children’s Friend and Family Services Parent Cafe Create Caring Community for Families

Children’s Friend and Family Services (Children’s Friend) Parent Cafe hosted two events this fall/winter. Consulting Psychiatrist Theresa (Tesi) Kohlenberg spoke with parents about medication.  Many parents had their questions answered and several have signed up for individual consultations to get additional information on the subject.

Children’s Friend hosted a  Winter Wonderland Family Party. Along with many families that connected through Children’s Friend’s Parent Cafes, many new families joined in the festivities totaling about 25 families.  Families enjoyed dinner and then participated in crafts like magnet making and one minute challenge games together.  Every child got a small gift and there was a special raffle for adults.

“Parent Cafe provides an opportunity for parents involved with Children’s Friend to meet other parents and partake in topic discussions about real issues happening every day.  It’s a time to support one another and find solutions. Food and drinks are provided, “says Alison Coburn, who will be leading the group.

The next Parent Cafe is Tuesday January 19th from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at 112 Market Street, 2nd floor in Lynn.  Parents must contact Coburn directly to sign-up.  “In addition to our usual topic discussions, we hope to get more ideas from parents at this next meeting about future speakers/ workshops they might be interested in for the Spring,” says Coburn who can be reached at 781-691-7695.
